GOLD EXPEDITIONS

Training . Practice . Qualifying

OPTION 1

Hill & Moorland

Apex Expeditions's Hill & Moorland option allows for a more challenging terrain and navigation for Gold participants but avoids mountainous terrain. Locations such as Dartmoor and Exmoor are used. Option 1 will often include wild country, remote from habitation which may be unfamiliar to participants. It will often also involve wild camping.

TRAINING

Consisting of two days and 1 night, our training sessions are great for team building and allowing teams to experience a more prolonged outdoor expedition experience. The training is a progressive process with skills being acquired and then practiced until participants are capable of carrying out the skill without the support of adult supervision.

PRACTICE

4 days and 3 nights expedition. Our practice expeditions put participants to the test and help embed the training learnt previously. Each day consists of 8 hours of planned activity; at least 4 of which must be spent journeying. Participants will be required to complete the expedition by their own physical efforts with minimal external intervention and without motorised assistance.

QUALIFYING

4 days and 3 nights expedition. Our qualifying expeditions put participants to the final test. Each day consists of 8 hours of planned activity; at least 4 of which must be spent journeying. An accredited assessor will be observing the group throughout the expedition and will debrief them at the end. Participants will be required to complete the expedition by their own physical efforts with minimal external intervention and without motorised assistance.

OPTION 2

Mountainous

Apex Expeditions's Mountainous option allows for a much more challenging terrain for Gold participants, incorporating steep terrain, unpredictable weather and micro navigation. Locations such as Snowdonia are used, where both navigation and terrain is very challenging. Option 2 will often include wild country, remote from habitation which may be unfamiliar to participants. It will often also involve wild camping.
